Understanding Vitamin B12 Deficiency and Injection Treatment Options

Some individuals are unable to absorb sufficient Vitamin B12 through the stomach due to underlying medical factors, while others may develop a deficiency that can lead to anaemia. Vitamin B12 injections provide a direct method of administration and are commonly used where deficiency has been clinically identified.

In the UK, the most widely used injectable form of Vitamin B12 is hydroxocobalamin. Oral Vitamin B12 supplements such as cyanocobalamin tablets are available over the counter; however, in certain cases injections may be recommended following medical assessment.
